Over the past twenty years of my counseling career, I have discovered the thing that most undermines how we feel about ourselves – caring for everyone in our lives except ourselves – leaving us overwhelmed and exhausted.
Instead what most of us yearn for is more peace and ease in our lives and the in world. And the key is self-nurturing!
Unfortunately most of us don’t know how to nurture ourselves because we haven’t been taught, encouraged or given permission to prioritize caring for ourselves, and so we end up feeling chronically stressed, anxious, depressed, resentful and overwhelmed.
What is worse is that the longer we are depleted, giving more than we have to give, the more health challenges we face, the more difficulty we have making empowered decisions, and the more problems we experience in our relationships.
